The "Opel Automobile GmbH" is a German automobile manufacturer with headquarters in Rüsselsheim, Germany. The company, founded by Adam Opel, produced its first automobile in 1899. From 1929 until 2017 Opel was owned by General Motors, since August 2017 it is a subsidiary of the French automobile manufacturer Groupe PSA.

The "ARD ZDF Deutschlandradio Beitragsservice" (formerly known as GEZ) is a joint organization of Germany's public broadcasting institutions, located in Cologne, Germany. They are responsible for the collection of license fees, which need to be paid by every household, company and institution in Germany. This service therefore maintains one of the most comprehensive databases on the population of Germany. I was a PM for the development and the launch of the "Service Portal für Unternehmen", a web application allowing corporate customers to register and maintain their fees account.

Project Manager for the "General Motors World Platform - GMWP", a CMS-Platform for all General Motors B2C websites worldwide (Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Opel, Vauxhall). For this client I was involved in several projects:

  • Project management of the system integration tests during the migration of www.buick.com
  • Project management for the re-launch of www.cadillac.com
  • Project planning for www.gmc.com and www.chevrolet.com
  • Project management of the development of a CRM tool.
  • Technical project manager for the rollout of the international Chevrolet websites (mobile and desktop) in EMEA and Asia, coordinating the work of teams in Frankfurt, Shanghai and Chicago.
  • Portfolio manager for General Motors International Organization in Shanghai.

Within these projects I also managed the work of external suppliers (CMS Development, Data Centre and others). Project locations were Frankfurt/Main (main location) and occasionally Detroit, USA.

Date & Location: June 2010 – June 2010 (1 month) | Hamburg, Germany

Short term consultancy: Evaluation of a Web Content Management Systems (CMS) for the re-launch of the corporate website www.ottogroup.com and the career portal of the Otto Group, Management consulting and analysis of internal data interfaces. The client implemented the proposed solution later on.

Date & Location: November 2009 – February 2010 (4 months) | Schiltach, Germany

Re-launch of the corporate website www.hansgrohe.com. The project team consisted out of staff members of the client from the IT department and the corporate communications department. Furthermore there were 2 external suppliers in the areas of marketing strategy and CMS-Development. All together I managed a team of about 25-30 persons. Together with the sub project managers of the external suppliers I developed the overall project plan. In parallel I coached 2 members of the leadership team of the client who took over the project after its first phase. As overall project manager I was responsible for the project budget, the weekly management reports, change management, stakeholder management, the management of the external suppliers and all other relevant aspects of the project.

Client: TATCOT - Tanzania Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists
Date & Location: October 2009 – November 2009 (2 months) | Moshi, Tanzania

Short term consultancy to support a German development co-operation project in Tanzania. I managed the creation of the first version of a website for this training centre together with local staff. In parallel I also trained a webmaster and content editors and defined the sustain-processes of this site. Furthermore I did an analysis of the existing IT infrastructure and gave recommendations for the future - with a focus on eLearning activities.

Client: Henkel Corporation
Date & Location: May 2004 – May 2009 (5 years 1 month) | Düsseldorf, Germany

For this client I was involved in several projects:

  • Re-launch of the Henkel Corporate Websites www.henkel.com including its 50 country versions. Within this project Henkel changed the technical platform from Cold Fusion to the Red Dot CMS (now Open Text) - at the same time the sites were also migrated to a new data Centre. Within this project my role was technical project manager and IT consultant, my major tasks were: Project planning of all technical work packages, product evaluation to identify a new CMS as well as a new Product Information System (PIM). Furthermore I prepared a pitch between CMS Development partners and Data Centres (RfP and bidders conferences). In the implementation phase I coordinated the work of the external suppliers and supported the overall project manager in the area of budget administration and led most negotiations between Henkel and all external service providers involved in this project. The average team size was 15 - 20 persons. Furthermore I was tasked to define OLAs and SLAs and to define ITIL-compatible sustain processes. After the initial launch I was also responsible for change management.
  • Document Management for Henkel and Dial. Together with a Henkel project manager I led the creation of a pre-study in that area. Once the project was approved I was responsible for creation of the necessary tender documents as well as the planning and execution of bidder’s conferences. I was also responsible for the design of the technical infrastructure and prepared the decisions for the Henkel leadership team.
  • Legal Contract Management for the Henkel Law Group. In this project I was responsible for the requirement analysis, the creation of specifications, test plans and the execution of the system tests.
  • Re-launch of www.prittworld.com and about 20 country versions of this brand website. In this project I consulted in the selection of the external service providers for development and hosting as well as in an evaluation to find a suitable Web Content Management System.

Short-term consultancy at the Vietnamese Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologists, a project of the GTZ: Evaluation of IT infrastructure, enhancements of their statistics software package. This mission was a follow up on a previous analysis done in 2003.

  • Project Management and Management Consulting: Development of 2 Intranet Systems for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany: a virtual Year 2000 Office and and a Management Information System about SAP and Business Process Re-engineering.
  • Project Management: Development of an intranet-based finance reporting tool for Ford Motor Company in Cologne, Germany (Technical environment: IBM-MVS, DB2, SQL, IBM Web Server, Net.Data, HTML, Javascript)
  • Management Consulting: Study about Back-up/Disaster recovery Strategies and High-availability Lotus Notes Cluster Solutions for the Bayer Pharmaceutical Research Divison in Wuppertal, Germany.
  • Standard software evaluation for Henkel KGaA in Düsseldorf, Germany (business processes analysis, tender documents, evaluation of quotations, implementation)
  • Management Consulting: Development of a Network strategy for the Bayer Pharmaceutical Research Divison in Wuppertal, Germany (study about Server and Client operating systems, Helpdesk solutions, Maintenance, Systems management). The solutions suggested in this study were later on successfully implemented by the client.
  • Design and development of a mobile data communications system for the sales division of Henkel KGaA in Düsseldorf, Germany. The systems functions were order-recording, daily work reports, statistics, e-mail and others (technical design, development and testing, impelmentation, technical environment: MS-DOS, UNIX, C and Oracle). For this client I also developed various other Client-Server-based systems in the area of sales and marketing.
  • Re-engineering of a mainframe-based material logistics system for Ford Motor Company in Cologne, Germany (fine-tuning, development and testing, technical environment: IBM-MVS, JCL, DB2, SQL, IMS-DC, COBOL).
